Presenter Details

Laetitia van der Merwe is presently employed as a full-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria, Department of Construction Economics in the Real Estate/Property Science program. She lectures on Property Development, Property Investment, Feasibility Studies, Market and Location Studies, Property Marketing, and Research Methodology at both post and pre-graduate levels. She holds a Masters Degree in Research Psychology and completed a PhD in Real Estate in 2022 that is presently in the examination process. She is an Accredited Professional of the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) in Sustainable Precincts, a Director of the Gauteng Precinct Management Association (GPMA), and a lecturer on various short courses of the South African Council of Shopping Centers (SACSC) and the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA).

Her career began as a researcher in the field of property development in 1995 and she has been employed by some of the leading property developers in South Africa such as Abland (commercial real estate developer) Big Five Projects, Central Developments and Cosmopolitan (residential developers in the affordable, entry-level, and up market segments). She worked as a consultant for a variety of real estate practitioners and other organisations (private and public sector) in various industries.

Her interests include both the built and natural environment, scuba diving, travelling, and painting.
